Verbal Reasoning
Measures your ability to understand and analyze written material. Consists of two sections, with approximately 20 questions per section. You have 30 minutes to complete each section.

Evaluates your problem-solving and quantitative reasoning skills. Also consists of two sections, with around 20 questions per section. You have 35 minutes to complete each section.

Analytical Writing
Assesses your ability to articulate complex ideas and support your arguments. Comprises two essay tasks: Analyze an Issue and Analyze an Argument. You have 30 minutes for each essay.

Experimental Section
Can either be a Verbal or Quantitative Reasoning section. This section is unscored and is used for research purposes to develop future test questions. You won't know which section is experimental.

Optional section provided at the end of the test. It is also unscored and is used for ETS research purposes. You can choose to complete or skip this section.
